Feature Request: Granular Email Notification Controls for Job Applications
Problem Statement
Currently, email notifications for job applications can only be turned on/off globally for ALL employers/users. This creates two problems:
When enabled: All users receive every application notification, causing email overload
When disabled: No one gets notified, potentially causing missed applications
Current State
❌ Global on/off switch only
❌ No targeting of specific recipients
❌ No frequency control options
❌ No job-level customisation
User Story
As an employer/hiring manager, I want granular control over who receives job application notifications and how frequently, so that relevant team members stay informed without overwhelming everyone with irrelevant emails.
Acceptance Criteria
Replace Global Controls with Granular Options:
Remove current all-or-nothing global setting
Add per-job notification recipient selection
Add per-user notification preferences
Recipient Targeting:
Default notifications to job creator only
Allow adding specific team members per job
Support role-based recipients (e.g., "all hiring managers")
Frequency Controls:
Individual email per application
Daily digest (all applications from past 24 hours)
Weekly digest
Disable notifications entirely (per user/per job)
Migration Strategy:
For existing jobs: Default to current behaviour initially, allow opt-in to new controls
Provide bulk update tool for existing job postings
Business Impact
Reduces support complaints about email overload
Prevents missed applications from blanket disabling
Improves employer satisfaction and platform stickiness
